Craving something sweet?  This delicious chocolate mousse is perfect if you have a raised cholesterol and need a healthier treat or if you just want the have a healthier option!  Don’t tell your kids if they don’t like avocado pear – they will never know!  You could use ½ cup of dates instead of the maple syrup (soak them in warm water for about an hour before blending all the ingredients together).  And diabetics or those watching their calorie intake could replace the maple syrup with xylitol or an artificial sweetener dissolved in the water – you may need to add a little more water in that case.


  • 2 medium sized avocados

  • ½ cup cocoa powder

  • ¼ cup maple syrup

  • ¼ cup water


  1. Add all the ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend.  Start on slow and then increase the speed to high.  Blend until it is very smooth

  2. You may need to add a bit of extra water to help with the blending, but add very small amounts at a time.  Do not add too much extra water as this will changing the consistency

  3. Serve immediately or refrigerate until later (keeps for up to a week in the fridge)

  4. Serve with fresh strawberries (optional)
